Before Your Appointment

Do I Need to Use Olive Oil Drops?

Yes, we recommend applying olive oil drops for 4–5 days before your appointment. This helps soften the wax, making it easier and quicker to remove. However, don't worry if you haven’t done this - it rarely prevents a successful treatment. Your clinician will always assess your ears before beginning the procedure.

What Should I Prepare?

Before your appointment, you'll receive a time slot confirmation and any specific access instructions. If you're booking a mobile ear wax removal service, we simply ask that you:

  • Provide access to a plug socket

  • Ideally, a table and chairs, although the procedure can be carried out in most comfortable spaces

There’s no need for special cleaning or preparation - just ensure the area is quiet and accessible.

When We Arrive (Home Visit)

When we arrive for a mobile visit, your clinician will introduce themselves and set up using portable equipment. All of the tools and technology we use are visible, and you're welcome to ask questions before the procedure begins.

Our goal is to help you feel at ease and informed. Whether you're in Bromley, Richmond, West Wickham, or anywhere across London, you'll receive the same professional service at home as you'd expect from a clinic.

During the Procedure

What Does the Process Involve?

We use microsuction, a gentle method that safely removes ear wax using a small suction device and a specialist microscope or head torch for precision.

The entire appointment usually lasts 15–30 minutes, depending on the build-up. Some cases take slightly longer - especially if the wax is more stubborn - but your practitioner will guide you through it calmly and professionally.

Does It Hurt?

No. Most patients describe it as completely pain-free. The sensation is often likened to a tickling feeling, and the sound is similar to a soft vacuum; noticeable but not loud or unpleasant.

Aftercare & Follow-Up

What Happens Next?

Once the wax has been removed, your clinician will provide verbal aftercare advice. Most people feel instant relief and greater clarity of hearing. Occasionally, you might experience temporary light-headedness or slight dizziness, which typically passes quickly.

Will I Need a Follow-Up?

In some cases, if not all the wax can be removed on the first visit, we'll ask you to use olive oil drops for a few more days and schedule a free follow-up appointment the following week.

Some patients choose to book in regularly, while others only return on an as-needed basis. We’re happy to advise on the best schedule for your ear health.
